Our
Story and Event

Since 2020, we strive in giving contribution towards the ocean and coastal communities. In combating marine pollution and habitat degradation, we formed our projects under three important pillar as follows : Educational activities Outreach and empower programCollective action.

Beach Clean Up ~ International Youth day 2020

Even in the midst of a pandemic, the OurConservaSea team continues to contribute concrete actions for marine conservation through beach clean-up actions on August 12th 2020. This event is carried out with a limit of 10 participants equipped with health protocols, and were able to collect a pile of of 86 kg marine debris consisting of following materials: plastics, fibers, metal, glass, and others.

Marine School Aipiri 2021

In early 2021, we manage 3 month educational program with the coastal communities children in Aipiri Village, Manokwari. During the program, we packed environmental teaching methods which adopt both school student competency materials and fun activities. More than 40 kids involved and had a lot of fun during the program.

Patharian Movement 2021

Patharian movement  is the initiatives established by youth based organization called OurConservaSea to tackle the problem of habitat degradation, especially black corals in the area of Manokwari, West Papua Indonesia.  The main purpose of implementing this project is to provide understanding and raise awareness of various levels of society about the importance of black coral as an important habitat in the sea. The implementation of this project is carried out to encourage, empower, and outreach the community, youths, craftsmen, academics, conservationists, celebgram, ect to take part in black corals conservation. In 2021 this program has been supported by Save Philippines Sea and the US Embassy through YSEALI MAP, which then help OurConservaSea to develop this initiative  into a wider project. The patharian movement implemented in YSEALI MAL is devided into three main program such as the implementation of eco friendly crafting workshops as an alternative to the black corals craft, the implementation of an international webinar on black corals, and the publication of a bilingual encyclopedia (Indonesian-English). During the implementation of our project, we have collaborate with other 12 local, national, and international NGO also community to work together in spreading out the message and raising awareness about the importance of black corals.

Eco- friendly crafting workshop ~ Patharian Movement 2021

The first program implemented in patharian movement is eco friendly workshop. We collaborate with local business in Manokwari such as Cafe ketapang Manokwari, Elona project, and Dapur kita Manokwari to held 2 days in person workshop together. The direct and indirect impact that we have given to the community was in the form of empowering 15 local mother and youths in making eco friendly craft, as well as managing a sustainable craft business in the 4.0 industry

Our Ways To ConservaSEA International Webinar ~ Patharian Movement 2021

Furthermore, we also engage wider community to know about the importance of black corals habitat in the sea through an nternational webinar of Our Ways To ConservaSEA. During the event we encourage 37 participant from diverse country inside and outside of ASEAN countries about the importance of black corals. At the end of the program we close it with a fun game and give away free black corals encyclopedia to our top three winners.
